Horizon Fitness are a US based company that specialise in premium
fitness equipment for the home - especially treadmills. Horizon
are part of the 4th largest exercise equipment company in the
world and their motto is "Comfort, Control and Convenience".
Whether you are new to exercise or a regular looking to move
further with your fitness levels, Horizon claim to have the treadmill
to suit your needs and pocket.
My first impression of Horizon treadmills are that they are very
well-built, with quality parts and easy-to-understand controls
- always a bonus! Sometimes I see treadmill consoles that are
so complex they wouldn't look out of place on the Starship Enterprise.
I mean, what do you want other than to go faster or slower, uphill
or level? OK, a heart rate monitor is useful if you understand
that they tend to be quite inaccurate(!), but in my experience,
people new to exercise get worried when they see their heart
rate rising - even though I gently explain that it's what their
heart is meant to do. I had to persuade one client to not use
the heart rate monitor on her Horizon treadmill at all, as watching
her heart rate rise worried her so much she got palpitations!
Some people like to watch the calories burnt readout, I suppose,
but I find it a bit boring.
On the other hand, more experienced exerciser and those in training
for races will find the inbuilt programs useful and challenging;
like having your own Personal Trainer.
The budget end of the range starts around $700; an excellent
quality ultra-compact folding treadmill for where space is a
problem. All the Horizon treadmills are electronic: the Evolve
has a 1.25 CHP motor for a smooth, quiet ride and is excellent
value for money.
There are around 18 treadmills in the home equipment range, with
the top model costing $2599 (T700).
This is practically a commercial use model - the treadmills
you see in gyms won't be a much higher spec than this. The T700
has a full console with several programs including hill walk
and interval options, a full size cushioned belt to run on, and
is smooth and almost silent in operation, with a heavy duty motor
and a lifetime warranty. The whole family can run on this with no danger of wearing it
out!
With all these options, there is bound to be a Horizon treadmill
to suit your needs perfectly. Go have a look at the Horizon range
and make regular exercise a part of your life.
